Ice Festival

Celebrate Valentine's Day in a unique way on Saturday at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park at 72nd Street. Watch artists carve ice sculptures from 3-5pm. There will be food truck fare available for purchase throughout the event. After 5pm it becomes a silent disco with your choice between 80s hits, Top 40, or favorite NYC artists. The event is free and open to all ages and headphones will be provided for the silent disco. Have fun!


Radio City Christmas Spectacular

Starting November 11 you can see the famous Rockettes do their high kicks at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. It's a classic for the holiday season and includes some fancy new technology that actually doesn't take away from its charm. It can be a bit on the expensive side, especially for the whole family, but there are certain days and times that might be a bit cheaper. Tickets can be purchased online in advance. Have fun!


Washington Square Park Folk Festival

If you're into folk music check out the Folk Festival on Saturday and Sunday in Washington Square Park. Music includes old time string band, blues, traditional Mexican, and square dance. It's free and open to the public and takes place from 1pm to 5pm. Have fun!


Medieval Festival

Step back in time at the Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park this Sunday from 11:30am-6pm. See performers in period costumes, enjoy medieval music, dancing, jugging, food, and more. And don't miss the joust between four knights on horseback in the afternoon!  It's a great event for the whole family to learn and enjoy. Admission to the event is free for everyone so it can be a very cheap fun-filled day with the family. 


Dragon Boat Festival

Go to an all-out cultural festival and sporting event this weekend at the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival at Meadows Lake in Flushing Meadows Park. Watch hundreds of teams race in the lake, enjoy food, music, folk art, dance, and more. Entry is free and the event takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 9am-5pm. Enjoy!


Harlem Week

MDNY_Apollo_Theater,_Harlem_(2009)Harlem Week began in 1974 as just a one day festival celebrating Harlem's rich culture and heritage. It's now evolved into a month-long celebration of Harlem with many events throughout the month, especially on the weekends. Some things not to miss are a college fair, children's festival, dancing in the street party, fashion show, film festival, concerts, and the Percy Sutton 5k run/walk. The celebration begins on July 31 and continues until August 27 and most of the events are free. Have fun!


Lincoln Center Out of Doors

Dance Parade & Dancefest

For something free and fun this weekend check out the Dance Parade and Dance Festival. The parade starts at 1pm at 21st and Broadway and heads down to Tompkins Square Park. Watch several styles of dance as the parade heads down to the park including ballet, break dancing, waltz, salsa, tango and more. After the parade concludes around 3pm have fun at the party in the park. There will be 5 stages: a performance stage, a family friendly stage, a teaching stage, and a free dance area. All of this costs absolutely nothing! Have fun!


Japan Day

Celebrate Japan Day  at Central Park on Sunday. Japan day is an annual event that celebrates Japanese culture in New York City. Enjoy games, activities, live performances, and food for purchase. The festival takes place at the Central Park Bandshell which can be accessed from the 69th Street entrance at 5th Avenue. The sold-out race that kicks off the festival starts at 8am, but the rest of the festival continues through the afternoon. Have fun!


Dance in Bryant Park

Starting today and continuing every Wednesday through June 22 enjoy dancing in Bryant Park to live music. Dance to salsa, swing, tango, and more. Lessons are from 6-7pm followed by dancing to live music from 7-8:30pm. A great way to get outside and exercise now that the weather is finally improving!
