Celebrate Earth Day with Chihuly

April 21, 2017

This weekend is Earth Day! Here's to you, Earth. Earth Day is the perfect reminder to go outside, enjoy the fresh air, and appreciate the our environment. And, in NYC, there's no better way to enjoy the outdoors than with a trip to the New York Botanical Garden. Starting tomorrow (April 22), the gardens will be presenting their newest exhibit on Chihuly. Known for his gorgeous and extravagant blown glass works, Chihuly has created installations that compliment the Garden's landscape and architecture. If the name Chihuly doesn't ring a bell, perhaps his works may. Have you seen the 30 foot high Rotunda Chandelier in the V&A in London? Chihuly. Or the multicolored glass ceiling at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas? Also Chihuly. This NYBG exhibit hopes to highlight the relationship between the organic shapes that Chihuly creates and the organic shapes in nature. If you didn't think that nature could get more beautiful, it just did.

To buy tickets to the Garden or to learn more about the exhibit, visit the New York Botanical Garden's website.
The New York Botanical Gardens are located at 2900 Southern Blvd in the Bronx.
