Getting around the city

Apple_core_hotels_nycMost of us know better than to ask New Yorkers for directions. In all likelihood, you will be pointed in all directions except the right one. Occasionally, you will be greeted with a matter-of-fact "This is New York -We're too busy " expression or a grin "I got here yesterday myself!"
Here's a list of websites and telephone numbers to keep handy - get your MP3 player, mobile phone, digital camera and you're all set to rock and roll the city without having to ask how to get around. If you still feel lost, there's always New York's finest to help.

www.mta.info (The world's largest mass-transit system)

www.downtowny.com (downtown connections)

www.hopstop.com (map your subway ride; get directions on your cellphone)

www.nyc.gov/taxi
(New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission)

www.nywatertaxi.com (New York Water taxi - getting around is fun!)
